MEET DEBORAH SHAHADEY
My name is Deborah Shahadey. I am the owner of METTA Wellness Center. I am also a massage therapist/Thai Bodyworker/Yoga Teacher/Sound Bath Practitioner. I am a Florida Licensed Massage Therapist (MA#89326), Certified Thai Bodyworker, Yoga Teacher (E-200RYT and 500 hr Yoga Alliance Registered), Sound Bath Practitioner and Vibrational Sound Practitioner.
I have been a massage therapist since 2000. I studied massage at Nevada School of Massage Therapy - Las Vegas campus & Thai Bodywork School - Evanston, IL. I have continually pursued continuing education in the massage field as I feel a therapist can NEVER have too many tools in their massage toolbox to help their clients.
I specialize in trigger point therapy (using Thai Clinical Bodywork) to help resolve acute or chronic pain issues, post-surgery recovery, restore range of motion, and make your day-to-day life more manageable. My services range from clinically focused sessions to achieve pain relief (acute and/or chronic pain, reduced range of motion, as well as helping with post-surgery issues) to general wellness and/or relaxation. I offer lots of different services depending on your needs and wants for your particular session that day. If you are simply looking for relaxation, I can also offer wonderful sessions for this....aromatherapy and Hot Stone Massages are GREAT for this! Please see my Services page for the complete menu of services and descriptions.
I started as a yoga teacher after graduating from my 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training program in July 2018. I completed my 300 hr Yoga Teacher training June 2023.
I completed my Sound Bath Practitioner training in November 2020 and my Vibrational Sound Practitioner training in August 2023.
I permanently relocated to Ocala, Florida in February 2020.

WHO I AM
I grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana. At 18, I began exploring different states and countries. I lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, Nevada (Las Vegas), Florida (Fort Lauderdale), and Germany (Kaiserslautern). My daughter, Chelsea, was born in 1993. I married Joe Shahadey in December 2003. I attended Nevada School of Massage Therapy (graduating in May 2000) studying a wide variety of healing modalities including Swedish massage, Acupressure, Anatomy & Physiology, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Deep Tissue, Facilitated Stretching, Hydrotherapy, Touch For Health, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Sports, Russian Sports, Seated Massage, Shiatsu, Infant Massage, Injury Massage, and Trigger Point Therapy. After this, I was employed by the world-renowned Canyon Ranch Spa Club. I then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I received my Florida State massage license and began studying Thai Massage. I also completed the requirements to become a Nationally Certified Therapeutic Massage Bodyworker (NCBTMB #310314-00). While in Florida, I worked at The Westin Diplomat Country Club & Spa as well as Marriott Harbor Beach The Spa. On March 28, 2002, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) and underwent chemotherapy for one year. I moved back to Terre Haute, Indiana to do this. I completed chemotherapy April 23, 2003. I am in complete remission with a clean bill of health and no expected relapse. I opened Body N Soul Massage June 2003 in Terre Haute, IN. I strive to keep up with the new products and techniques in the massage field by consistently attending continuing education classes. I am a strong believer that a person can never have too much education in their chosen career as there are always new or additional techniques one can add to their "massage toolbox." January 2015, I began attending Thai Bodywork School in Evanston, IL pursuing two different certifications. I completed my first certification, Thai Bodywork Practitioner, on June 23, 2015. The second certification is Clinical Thai Bodywork Practitioner. I have taken all of the Clinical Thai Bodywork courses and have now started repeating those courses and doing apprentice work to absorb even more information. In July 2018, I graduated from my 200 hour Yoga Teacher training at Cityoga School of Yoga and Health in Indianapolis, IN. I am also certified in Chair Yoga and Yin Yoga. In February 2020, I closed Body N Soul Massage in Indiana and relocated permanently to Ocala, FL. Because I have been riding horses since I was in my momma's belly and also LOVE the ocean ( a day trip to either coast is easy!), I felt Ocala was a perfect fit for me. I opened METTA Thai Bodywork & Yoga (MM#40608) in August 2020. I look forward to serving the Ocala community. I May 2024 I closed METTA Thai Bodywork & Yoga because the rental building had been sold. I purchased a forever commercial property so we could have a permanent home. I renamed the business METTA Wellness Center. |

D H A R M A | purpose
Yoga is a practice (sadhana) that we can carry into any area of our life. It is not about perfection or doing something right; it is about rediscovering the joy of being in our own presence, exactly as we are in this moment. Many of us engage in yoga seeking physical benefits and soon realize it touches every aspect of our lives, especially offering us spiritual growth and mental agility through life's ups and downs. It challenges us to uncover our deepest shadows. From this we grow more compassionate and forgiving and capable of operating from our highest + best self. Through our practice, we become kinder to ourselves, tolerant of our own imperfections, and more forgiving toward others
“Yoga wove its way into my life during a challenging time, offering me a renewed tenacity and the freedom to let go. Regardless of the state in which I come to my mat, I always leave feeling tethered by grace, infused with an inner calm, and more willing and open to accept life, just as it is.” - Deborah
